CHICAGO — A driver who struck a pedestrian early Wednesday in Logan Square was chased down and caught by officers minutes after the accident, police said.

Around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, the pedestrian was walking through the 2700 block of North Hamlin Avenue when the driver struck him with his car, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The pedestrian was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in stable condition, Gaines said.

The car was spotted a few minutes later by police, who chased it. The car was stopped and the driver was taken into custody at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and LeMoyne Street, Gaines said.
