Englewood Shooting Wednesday Night Leaves Man Wounded

CHICAGO — A 31-year-old man was shot Wednesday night in Englewood.

The man was sitting in his parked car in the 6500 block of South Damen Avenue around 10:20 p.m. when three men started firing into the car, striking the man in the buttocks. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Two people are in custody for the shooting, Gaines said.

About 1½ hours later, a 29-year-old man was shot multiple times while sitting in a car and talking to a friend in the 900 block of North LeClaire Avenue in Austin. The man heard gunshots, felt pain and drove himself to West Suburban Hospital. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Gaines said.

The man told police he never saw the shooter during the incident, which occurred around 11:50 p.m. No one is in custody for the shooting, Gaines said.

Around 8:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot multiple times while sitting outside in the 5300 block of West Altgeld Street in Belmont Cragin. A man stepped out of a car and shot the man in the thigh, side and hip, police said. The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, Gaines said.
