JEFFERSON PARK — A 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were shot in Jefferson Park while sitting in a car early Wednesday morning by someone who shouted gang slogans before opening fire, a Chicago Police spokesman said.

The man was shot in the leg and the woman was shot multiple times at 3:15 a.m. near Lamon and Ainslie avenues, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

The man was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital and the woman was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Estrada said. Both were in stable condition, he added.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Estrada said.

Gang-related shootings are rare in the Jefferson Park Police District — the safest in the city, authorities said.

Elsewhere in the city, three people were killed and eight people were wounded late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
