HUMBOLDT PARK — Friends of the Parks, the Chicago Park District and volunteers will help spread fibar surfacing in the new Chicago Plays playground at the Humboldt Park Pool Playground Wednesday.

Fibar is the wood material that lies under and around swings, slides, monkey bars and other playground equipment. This new playground is part of an effort to replace 300 playgrounds over the next 5 years, and volunteers will meet at the playlot, 3025 W. Augusta Blvd., to put down the material from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and dress appropriately — most importantly wearing closed-toe shoes (i.e. gym shoes or boots). Volunteers will be working with wheel barrels, rakes and the like.

If you would like to get involved email Maria Stone at stonem@fotp.org call 312-857-2757 Ext. 17, Amy Vega from the Humboldt Park Advisory Council amyvega@ymail.com or Angela O’Rourke angela.orourke@gmail.com 773-755-1590.
