EDGEWATER — A new walk-in clinic joined other new businesses along a booming business strip when it opened this month.
Edgewater's Physicians Immediate Care, at 6140 North Broadway, is the company's fifth Chicago location.
The clinic bills itself as a replacement to hospital emergency rooms for non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses that might need immediate attention. The 3,100-square-foot clinic includes exam rooms, a trauma center, lab and X-ray machine. It is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. weekdays and 8 p.m.-4 p.m. weekends.
Company spokesman Jimmy Quattrocki said Physicians Immediate Care was founded by Dr. John Koehler 25 years ago in Rockford. The company is now run by CEO Stan Blaylock and has 31 locations in Illinois, Indiana and Nebraska.
The clinic was hailed by Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) as another example of North Broadway's potential to become the neighborhood's premiere business district.
