At Least Three Wounded by Gunfire Friday Afternoon

CHICAGO — At least three people were injured by gunfire Friday afternoon, police said.

About 6 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the right leg in the 4600 block of South Drexel Boulevard, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition. Area Central detectives are investigating. Authorities said the man was a documented gang member.

Earlier, at 4:12 p.m., in the 4900 block of West Augusta Boulevard, a 27-year-old man was shot in the thigh, police said. The man was walking in an alley when someone fired shots from a sedan, hitting him in the upper thigh. He was taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition.

Area North detectives are investigating the shooting. Authorities said the victim is a documented gang member.

About 2 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 11200 block of South Marshfield Avenue in Morgan Park, police said. He was in good condition, but police did not know if he'd been taken to a hospital.

An 18-year-old man was also killed in Rogers Park.
