Evanston Teen Killed in Rogers Park Shooting

CHICAGO — An Evanston teenager was shot dead in Rogers Park Friday, police said.

He was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Alante Vallejo, 18.

Police said he was shot in his back in the 1900 block of West Howard Street in Rogers Park about 1:45 p.m. Vallejo was taken in critical condition to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m., authorities said.

A 20-year-old man was also shot in the incident. He took himself to Evanston Hospital where he was treated for a foot wound.

Both men shot are documented gang members, police said.

Detectives are investigating, and no one is in custody.
