WICKER PARK — Houston-based MAX's Wine Dive will introduce Chicago to its take on comfort food and wine when it opens Tuesday night.

The restaurant, which has been gearing up to open in Wicker Park at 1482 N. Milwaukee St. since at least October, will start serving dinner at 4 p.m.

MAX's is open for dinner every day and then for brunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

With locations in Texas as well as others planned for Atlanta and Denver, the chain is known for pairing "gourmet casual" food with an extensive selection of wine, including its particular coupling of fried chicken with Champagne.

The Wicker Park location will include some special seasonal dishes from executive chef Jessica Brumleve, formerly of Michael Jordan's Steak House, including fried brie cheese with a chipotle-raspberry coulis, cilantro salad and toasted baguette. Others include cheesy garlic bread and mushroom truffle risotto.

She's also come up with a Texas Sheet Cake, sour cream chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, candied pecans and caramel.

The menu also has many of the chain's signature items, including fried oysters, “drunk bread” made with bread and prosciutto soaked in white wine custard and baked cheese, along with southern fried chicken, which is made with jalapeño-buttermilk.

For brunch, there's braised pork belly benedict, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, among other choices.

Spring menus are available online.

The wine menu features more than 100 varieties, including some exclusive to the restaurant, according to a statement from the company. And for those who'd rather pop in for bottle of wine to go, all of MAX's wine is available for retail.

MAX's will also serve some local beer selections.

Hours are 4 a.m.–11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.–1 a.m Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.–11 p.m. on Sunday.
