CHICAGO — The CTA provided a first look at the improvements planned for the Damen, Western and California stops on the Blue Line Friday.

"L" riders can expect updated stations along with a faster, smoother ride thanks to the "Your New Blue" program, which started in September, the CTA said.

Changes to the stations will include extensive exterior and interior stationhouse and platform renovations while still preserving the historic character of the stations, according to a statement by the CTA Friday.

Work on the stations will begin in August and require short closures to the Damen and California stations, which will be receiving the most work. The Western station will remain open throughout the project and no more than one station will be closed at the same time, the CTA said.
