CHICAGO — Eight people have been shot in daytime incidents on the South and West sides Tuesday, police said.

In the latest shooting, a 24-year-old man standing on the corner of the 5500 block of West Monroe Street in Austin was shot in his left arm and left leg, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.

He was taken to West Suburban Hospital after the 6:55 p.m. shooting.

Earlier, a 74-year-old man was shot in Morgan Park, while driving in the 11200 block of South Throop Street. He is not believed to be the intended target.

In other shootings:

• A 22-year-old man was shot while in the 5200 block of West Van Buren Street in Austin, Pacheco said. After the 3:43 p.m. shooting, the man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where a gunshot wound to his arm was stabilized.

• A 23-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were shot in the 200 block of West 105th Place in Roseland at 12:20 p.m., said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

After the incident in the 200 block of West 105th Place, both victims were taken to Christ. The woman was shot in the lower leg, while the man was shot in the buttocks, foot and lower leg.

• In the 700 block of West 69th Street in Englewood, two men were both shot in the legs about 10:40 a.m., Sedevic said. The men, of unknown ages, were on the street when someone with a gun approached and shot them. The victims were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

• In Austin, a 19-year-old man was shot in both arms while he was in the 5100 block of West Thomas Street about 8:35 a.m., Sedevic said. He was taken to West Suburban Hospital.
