Teen Mom Charged with Death of Newborn Found in Logan Square Alley

CHICAGO — The mother of an newborn boy found dead in a Logan Square alley last weekend has been charged with murder, police said Sunday.

Ana Rosa Mora, 18, of the 2700 block of North Hamlin Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder after allegedly telling police she put her newborn child in a plastic bag and left him in an alley, where he was discovered on the morning of Saturday, April 19.

The boy's body was discovered in the alley between two buildings in the 2700 block of North Hamlin Avenue last Saturday morning. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:44 a.m. that day, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

Mora was arrested Friday afternoon and was to appear in court Saturday.
