WICKER PARK — If you're a 20 or early 30-something living in Wicker Park, you've picked the right neighborhood, according to a rankings website.

Niche, a rankings and reviews site, on Monday rated Chicago fourth nationally among best cities for millennials and declared Wicker Park is the best neighborhood in the city for the generation.

"Chi-Town is a millennial’s playground," Niche stated. "Whether it’s attending museums or music festivals, taking in a night of sketch comedy, or partaking in Big Star’s tacos, there’s always something exciting to do."

Ahead of Chicago was the Washington, D.C., area, in third place, with Clarendon as its best neighborhood; Austin in second, with South River City as its best neighborhood; and New York City ranked No.1, with Greenpoint as its best neighborhood.

Niche said its list was based on information from the U.S. Census, FBI crime rates and data from its own surveys of college students and recent graduates over last four years.

Factors that went into consideration include percentage of the population between 25 and 34 years old, median rent (with preference for lower scores), median income and percentage of the population with a bachelor's degree or higher.

Considering Wicker Park has some pricey rents, which is acknowledged by Niche's own data, it's safe to assume the rest of those elements buoyed the ranking.
