Austin, Chicago Lawn Shootings Wound Five Monday

CHICAGO — At least five people were wounded, one seriously, in shootings Monday.

The most recent happened about 2:52 p.m. in Chicago Lawn in the 6300 block of South Maplewood Avenue, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman, citing preliminary information.

An 18-year-old man was shot in both legs, while a female, whose age was unknown, was shot in her foot and taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

No further information was immediately available.

Shortly after 11 a.m., three people were wounded during a drive-by in Austin in the 400 block of North Central Avenue, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

A 24-year-old man was shot in his abdomen and taken in serious condition to Loyola University Medical Center.

A 16-year-old boy shot in his left leg was listed in "stable condition" at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said, while a 22-year-old man shot in his buttocks was taken to Stroger Hospital. His condition had also stabilized.

No one was in custody for either shooting.
