CHICAGO — A 22-year-old Near West Side man was charged in the shooting death of a teen last Sunday.
Devon McCauley, of the 1200 block of West 14th Street, was charged with the murder of Ronald Hayes, 17.
Hayes, of the 1300 block of West Washburne Avenue, was shot and killed in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street about 4:15 Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:10 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
The Banner Academy West High School senior was shoveling snow and putting down salt when he was shot in the head, the Tribune reported.
McCauley is due in court Sunday.
