CHICAGO — Two people are dead after a sedan crashed into a light pole near CTA Green Line tracks in West Garfield Park, police said.

The crash occurred about 4:40 a.m. Wednesday when a 2008 Ford sedan traveling eastbound in the 4500 block of West Lake Street struck a pole, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

Holland Richardson, 29, and Jasmine Payne, 26, were pronounced dead at the scene about 7:30 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Autopsies were inconclusive.

A third person in the car was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
