New Year's Eve Guide for Wicker Park, Bucktown, West Town

WICKER PARK —   There are plenty of ways to say goodbye to 2013 while welcoming another year around Wicker Park.

Here are a few of the highlights.

For Sit-Down Dining: 

Wine and dine on champagne and oysters at Bow & Stern Oyster Bar, which opened earlier this month at 1371 W. Chicago Ave. in West Town. Call 773-988-0644 for reservations.

Italian mainstay Club Lucky's Annual NYE merriment includes a performance by the Downtown Charlie Brown Blues Band, a bottle of champagne for every couple, hats and noisemakers. Helium-filled balloons will fill the air as guests chow down a la carte, off the menu. No cover charge for early seating, but there's a $25 charge to reserve a table for later seating. Club Lucky is at 1824 W. Wabansia Ave. in Bucktown. Call 773-227-2300 for reservations.

It might be too cold for an outdoor pig roast, so a local bar is bringing the fun indoors at a Tiki Party and Pig Roast with punch cocktails. Bar Bar Black Sheep, 1415 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park. Cost is $30; email the bar to reserve a plate.

Enjoy a "Giro D'italia" five-course dinner with wine pairings at Enoteca Roma's feast named after a bicycle race that travels throughout Italy. The "culinary Giro d'italia" offers "omnivore" and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes from five regions. Cost is $65. Enoteca Roma, 2146 W. Division St. in Wicker Park. The VIP Dinner Package at the Chop Shop offers a chef's select menu dinner with oysters and ribs, among other options, as well as access to a private bar and mezzanine level. Chop Shop is at 2033 W. North Ave. in Wicker Park. Buy tickets, at $225 per person, which includes live music, here.

The Paramount Room's No Cover NYE will offer a full menu by chef Stephen Dunne, a four-time recipient of a Michelin's Bib Gourmand, as well as desserts from pastry chef Suzi Beu. Guests who stay until midnight will enjoy party favors, a sparkling toast, and countdown with music and dancing. The Paramount Room, 415 N. Milwaukee Ave. in West Town. For Buffet Lovers:

Turn back the clock to the Roaring '20s at Moonshine's 10th Annual Bootleggers Ball, which offers a modern speakeasy with a premium open bar (cash bar stays open till 2 a.m.). A dinner buffet with  carving station will further help to anchor classic cocktails and craft beers. Dressing in '20s attire encouraged. Moonshine, 1824 W. Wabansia Ave in Wicker Park. Indulge in pizza, drinks and beer at Roots Handmade Pizza's "All-Inclusive NYE Party," which includes a five-hour premium bar and a buffet with Quad Cities malt crust pizza, appetizers and salads. The Crocodile's Porn 'N Chicken and Boom Boom Room Dance Party will be an underwater-themed shindig hosted by local artist JoJo Baby.  The festivities include a full dinner buffet, two complimentary drinks, champagne toast and party favors. For Imbibers:

Debonair Social Club's New Year's Eve drinking package includes five hours of open bar from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m along with two DJs on two dance floors. 1575 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park. Cost is $70; purchase tickets here.

Emporium Arcade Bar's Midnight Malort Toast is only the beginning; there will be arcade tokens and live music from three bands, along with beer on 28 taps, all included in the cover charge. 1366 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park. Purchase tickets, $10, here.

The "Evenstagram" NYE Party at The Boundary will stream your photos on a video screen. The open bar includes premium drinks, passed appetizers, video DJ, party favors and champagne toast. For Music Lovers:

Chopin Theater's Surprise NYE Cabaret offers live music on two floors, cabaret with Lady Jack, dancers, jugglers, comedians, champagne toast at midnight and a cash bar. Cover charge is $65 per person. Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division St. in Wicker Park. Buy tickets here.

Partake in a "no BS environment" with no "inclusive bar gimmicks," just a party concert with three up-and-coming bands: Oozing Wound, Magic Milk and Jimmy Whispers. DJ Mike Lust spins too.  Doors open at 9 p.m.  Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave. in Ukrainian Village. Purchase tickets, $10, here.

Double Door's Mucca Pazza and DJ RomaSoul Show is scheduled for 9 p.m. Tuesday; doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 for general admission, or $75 for VIP, which includes draft beer and well drinks. Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park. Buy tickets here.

The New Year's Eve General Admission Bash at the new Chop Shop and 1st Ward Events is scheduled for 8 p.m.-1 a.m.  and includes live music by the Gold Coast All Stars, DJ Samm of Hey Champ and a special performance by Chicago's own Serengeti, who will join the band to perform his hit "Dennehy." For Lovers of No Covers:

Green Eye Lounge is an unassuming bar known for easy accessibility by rail (it's practically under the Western "L" Blue line), road (plenty of meter-free street parking) and bus (the CTA Western bus has a stop right outside the bar).  So head over there and pay no cover, from 3 p.m. Tuesday to 2 a.m. Wednesday. 2403 W. Homer St. (at Western Ave.) on Logan Square/Bucktown border.

For a Mind/Body Connection:

Stretch your way into 2014 at a New Year's Eve Mala session beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday. The workout includes 108 salutations at the sun, followed by a sparkling cider toast and dancing until 1 a.m. YogaView, 2211 N. Elston Ave, Suite 200 in Bucktown. Cost is $20.
