CHICAGO — Authorities said a woman's death was ruled a homicide after she was hit by an SUV and found in an Austin alley early Sunday.

LaTasha Amos, 37, was found unresponsive in an alley in the 1100 block of South Mason Avenue after being hit by an SUV, according to Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police Department spokesman, and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Amos, of the 4700 block of West Adams Street, was found about 3 a.m. and taken to Loyola University Medical Center, Sullivan said.

She was pronounced dead at 3:23 a.m., and an autopsy Monday evening determined that her death was a homicide, according to the morgue.

Sullivan said police are conducting a death investigation.
