UPTOWN — Looking for a free bookcase?

How about a few dozen or more?

Uptown Update reports that Josh Mintzer, who owns the former Borders bookstore building at 4718 N. Broadway wants to donate nearly 100 bookcases he bought along with the vacant building in 2012, after the bookstore chain went out of business.

Just don't forget to ask.

"If you know of any person or entity that could use some (or all) of the bookcases, please contact jmintzer@saxonycap.com," Uptown Update wrote on its website earlier this week.

Mintzer has been seeking a tenant for the vacant building.

There's been interest, he said, from some small retailers.

But he hasn't "gotten the traction we would have hoped for," from the types of restaurants, bars and other businesses that would bolster plans to make Uptown a booming entertainment district, said Mintzer, who wants to put a billboard advertisement on the building to help bring in revenue as he continues his tenant search.
