EDGEWATER — The extensive construction along Sheridan Road between Hollywood and Devon avenues should be completed next week, Ald. Harry Osterman said.

"Milling" of the old asphalt is expected to begin Wednesday at Hollywood and Lake Shore Drive and take "about three days," said the 48th Ward alderman in an email newsletter to constituents.

On Tuesday, crews are expected to begin repaving the street, which would also take about three days, he said. Sheridan will be reduced to three lanes of traffic during construction.

Since August, the city has been working to replace 2,837 feet of an 8-inch water main between Thorndale Avenue and West Sheridan Road.

The old pipes were installed in the 1890s.
