Man Dies After Sunday Shooting, Another Wounded In Shooting Monday Night

CHICAGO — An Avalon Park man was pronounced dead early Tuesday morning after he was critically wounded in a shooting Sunday.

Brandon Williams, 31, was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

About 11:05 p.m. Sunday, Williams was sitting in a car in the 8000 block of South Woodlawn Avenue just blocks from his home when two men approached him, police said.

One man pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting Williams in the head, before running from the scene.

No one was in custody as of Tuesday morning, police said.

In other overnight crime, a 19-year-old man was hospitalized after a shooting in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

The teen was walking with a woman about 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 5900 block of West Fullerton Avenue when a gunman walked up to the two and began shooting.

The man was shot in the left leg and was taken to Our Lady of Resurrection Medical Center where he was listed in good condition.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting.
