CHICAGO — Police said they have a person of interest in custody after a 33-year-old man was shot during a robbery in South Chicago on Sunday afternoon.
A man walked up to Telkia Burns, 33, and demanded money from him in the 2900 block of East 91st Street about 3 p.m., authorities said. The robber began rummaging through Burns' pockets, and a fight ensued, cops said.
The man then shot Burns in his head, cops said.
Burns, of the 9100 block of South Commercial Avenue, was taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead there at 4:05 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police said Monday that they had a person of interest in custody, though no charges were announced.
