LINCOLN PARK — The organizers of Lincoln Park's newest street festival, Lincoln Avenue Live, hope the weekend fest's top-talent Chicago DJs and children's activities make it stand out from the rest.
The festival, which will take place along Lincoln Avenue between Webster and Belden, will focus on local food from neighborhood restaurants and bars to help make up for business lost by the Children's Memorial Hospital move.
While some of Chicago's favorite local DJs — such as Trentino, Zebo, Team Bayside High and Dani Deahl — spinning at one end of Lincoln, cover bands such as Wedding Banned and Sixteen Candles Band will rock the other end.
"We are excited to have two different components of music ranging from cover bands to the DJ stage," said Padraic Swanton, communication director of the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce. "Hopefully that will differentiate us from the other Chicago festivals."
Thirsty dancers will be able to sip on Lagunitas brews and sangria from Moe's Cantina all weekend.
The festival will carry the standard IPA, the Dogtown Pale Ale and Fusion 16, an American Pale Ale.
Emerald City Theater will set up a "Munchkinland" area for children both Saturday and Sunday of the festival fittingly on the corner where Oz Park is located.
