CHICAGO — Police said they're looking for a man who sexually assaulted and robbed a woman after approaching her at a North Side bus stop.

The 22-year-old woman was sitting at a bus stop in the 6300 block of North Clark Street in Edgewater on Thursday afternoon when a man sat down next to her, police said in a community alert.

The man then grabbed her throat and forced her a short distance away to the 1500 block of West Highland Avenue, where he sexually assaulted her in an alley, cops said. He stole her cell phone credit card and fled the area, according to the alert.

The woman went to a nearby hospital after the attack.

Police described the man as black, 35 to 40 years old, 5-foot-8 and weighing 300 pounds. He was wearing a white polo shirt with red and blue stripes and blue jeans, according to the alert.

Police asked anyone with information about the assault to call detectives 312-744-8261.
