CHICAGO — A 15-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital after being stabbed by a man in a black hoodie on the South Side Tuesday morning, police said.
She was on a sidewalk in the 1400 block of East 64th Street when the man stabbed her and fled about 10:30 a.m., said officer Daniel O'Brien, a Chicago Police Department spokesman. It was not immediately clear why the man stabbed her, O'Brien said.
She was stabbed in the right thigh and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital from 64th Street and Dante Avenue in good condition, the Chicago Fire Department said.
The incident happened near Mount Carmel High School, an all-boys Catholic school. Police said they did not know if any students were present at the time.
A spokeswoman from the high school could not immediately be reached Tuesday afternoon.
No one is in custody for the stabbing.
