A westbound lane of Foster will be closed between Pulaski Road and Keeler Avenue for bridge repair work.
The bridge, which will connect the Jane Addams to Cumberland Avenue, is planned to be finished in 2018.
Some advocates say the $22.9 million project, which is already underway, could just make matters worse.
Repair work has been completed and traffic is now moving in both directions.
Work is underway now on an eastbound lane between Cumberland and Harlem on the Kennedy.
