With more than 80 percent of the votes reported, Cappleman has won 53.78 percent to Crawford's 46.22.
The incumbent alderman wants more of it, while Amy Crawford said Uptown has "roughly the right amount."
Crawford's lead since the Feb. 24 election is due largely to a loan she gave her own campaign.
James Cappleman and Amy Crawford are back to campaigning in preparation for a runoff April 7.
Of 433 likely voters who were polled, 56.1 percent said they'd vote for Ald. James Cappleman.
