Ald. Anthony Napolitano wants a hearing on his ordinance that would halt the expansion of the airport.

Former 41st Ward Ald. Brian Doherty asked that the measure be dropped, officials said.

The change was designed to reduce the cost of the medical marijuana dispensaries, supporters said.

The grand marshal will be John Dineen, the founder of the union that represents police officers.

The plan is a "big breakthrough" in the effort to reduce jet noise, Aviation chief Ginger Evans said.

A meeting on the proposal will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Natoma Park, 5801 N. Natoma Ave.

A second meeting will take place in the coming weeks to detail the store's operations, officials said.

A similar proposal was dropped a year ago after the owner balked at restrictions required by officials.

Ald. Napolitano said residents should not allow anyone into their homes without proper identification.

The ordinance is needed to address the "noise crisis" on the Far Northwest Side, the alderman said.

Ald. Napolitano said he can "best represent the 41st Ward" on the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission.
