Linze Rice

Reporter/Producer @linzerice Contact

Linze Rice is a neighborhood reporter and photographer covering Chicago's Far North Side for DNAinfo.com.

Before taking over the Rogers Park/Edgewater beat, Linze was a general assignment reporter with DNAinfo, covering everything from breaking crime, to mayoral press conferences, to seeing the new bleachers first unveiled at Wrigley Field. Linze was also the editor at the American Chamber of Commerce Resources, a writing and social media consultant for Curiosity.com, a law industry copywriter, and a counselor at a women's inpatient drug and alcohol recovery center.

Linze has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Women's Studies and Spanish, and was awarded an LGBT Ally award in 2012 from Northern Illinois University.

Linze is from a tiny corn-fed village in DeKalb County called Kingston, where she grew up with her parents and two younger siblings. Linze's dad is a hog farmer, so there were many pigs present throughout her upbringing as well.

In her free time, Linze likes to enjoy Chicago's beaches, incredible architecture, and eat as much as possible. She lives in Edgewater (formerly Uptown and the Loop) with her writer husband, two cats, and pitbull named Bruce Wayne.

Fun fact: When she was six, Linze went up on stage with Wynonna Judd during a concert (and has the pictures to prove it) and was also seen on TV dancing during a taped performance of Deana Carter with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. She met them after the show in the parking lot thanks to her eccentric mother.
