CHICAGO — Demolition is scheduled to begin Wednesday on the former home of the Wolters Kluwer CCH publishing company, 4025 W. Peterson Ave., clearing the way for Peoples Gas to build its new headquarters on the Sauganash site early next year.
The utility company will impose a series of "nuisance controls" during the two-month demolition process, according to a letter sent to Ald. Margaret Laurino (39th). Laurino posted the letter on her Facebook page earlier this month.
Crews will keep the 9-acre site wet "to avoid excessive dust," while removing "any large amounts of water or mud debris" and litter, according to the letter written by Peoples Gas vice president Lori Flores-Rolfson.
If the workers don't maintain "site cleanliness," neighbors are encouraged to call 311 and report them to the city, the letter continued.
Peoples Gas executives announced their plan in August to leave behind their Old Irving park administrative offices, 3955 N. Kilpatrick Ave., with eyes on Sauganash.
The new building is set to employ about 400 people when it opens in 2019, and it will include meeting rooms open for public use, according to the company.
