1 Killed, 8 Wounded In Chicago Shootings Since Saturday Morning

CHICAGO — One person was killed and eight others were wounded in shootings citywide since Saturday morning.

A 21-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head in Portage Park when a gun someone was handling "discharged." Police are currently calling the incident a death investigation and have detained a man who was with her at the time of the shooting.

• In Garfield Ridge at 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning, a 26-year-old man was shot while in a parked vehicle in the 5700 block of South Archer Avenue.

Someone in a passing vehicle shot him in the left shoulder. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

• A 3-year-old boy was shot while riding in the backseat of a car in Washington Park Sunday morning.

• A man was shot Saturday night after being carjacked in Portage Park.

• A man was shot Saturday night in a West Ridge drive-by.

• In Back of the Yards at 9:30 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in his lower back in the 5000 block of South Hoyne Avenue.

He had gotted out of a car and was standing on a parkway when someone shot him from a passing white sedan.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

• In Uptown at 7:22 p.m., a male of an unknown age was shot in his lower calf while in the 1000 block of West Argyle Street. He was taken to Illinois Masonic in good condition.

• In West Englewood at 3:30 p.m., a 39-year-old man was shot multiple times while standing on a corner in the 6200 block of South Laflin Street.

Someone shot at him in his arm, abdomen and buttocks from a vehicle. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

The incident may have been gang-related.

• In Humboldt Park at 3:15 p.m., a 37-year-old man was shot while walking in the 3800 block of West Augusta Boulevard. Someone shot at him from a light-colored vehicle.

The man was taken to Stroger in serious conditiion after being shot in his knee, thigh and stomach.

The incident may have been gang-related.
