RAVENSWOOD — Looking for a "good" reason to drink beer? How about helping to keep kids warm this winter.

Saturday's inaugural Cold Crawl along Ravenswood's newly dubbed Malt Row will benefit Coat Angels, a charity that provides coats to local schoolkids.

The crawl kicks off at 1 p.m. at Empirical Brewery, 1801 W. Foster Ave., and winds up at 4 p.m. at Begyle Brewery, 1800 W. Cuyler Ave., with stops at Dovetail Brewery and O'Shaughnessy's Public House in between.

The mile-long route mirrors the distance thousands of Chicago children walk to and from school in the winter without a coat.

Tickets to the event are $20 per person, with all proceeds being donated to Coat Angels (click here to purchase). Admission includes drink specials at each stop on the crawl: $2 off pints at Empirical, free beer samples at Dovetail, $2 off appetizers at O'Shaughnessy's and $1 off pints at Begyle.
