EDGEWATER — After more than two months of being unresponsive in a hospital following an attack and robbery on the Red Line, a 70-year-old victim is now working with police to find who harmed him.

The man was found "unresponsive and unable to communicate" around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 7 at the Sheridan "L" Red Line stop, according to police. Because he couldn't speak, police weren't able to tell the full extent of his injuries, the department said in a crime alert.

He was taken to a hospital where he remained unable to relay his story, until Oct. 12.

According to the man, he was robbed and beaten while riding the train that night in August.

Police were able to locate video from the CTA which showed the attack occurred at what seems to be the Granville "L" stop in Edgewater.

The man in the video appears to be a black male between the ages of 19-25, 130-160 pounds and about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, according to police.

He wore a green Nike T-shirt, long blue jean shorts and gray running shoes, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 312-744-8263.
