CHICAGO — Fifty-four Chicago restaurants were named to Michelin's Bib Gourmand list for 2018, including eight making their debut, Michelin announced Friday morning.
Joining the ranks of neighborhood joints where diners can enjoy a great meal for a decent price: Giant, HaiSous, Longman & Eagle, Mango Pickle, Mi Tocaya, Pleasant House Pub, Quiote and True Food Kitchen.
Logan Square remains a hotspot for some of the best food in the city, home to half of Michelin's newcomers.
Unlike their higher-end Michelin-starred counterparts, Bib Gourmand restaurants are generally considered "affordable," typically offering two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less, excluding tax and tip.
A number of restaurants fell off the list: Riccardo Trattoria, TAC Quick, Belly Shack (closed), Via Lima (closed), Yusho (closed) and Balena in Lincoln Park, which has been closed since it was damaged by a fire in August.
Michelin will announce recipients of its highly coveted stars on Oct. 20.
