LINCOLN SQUARE — Old Town School of Folk Music is celebrating its 60th anniversary with an open house Friday night that includes lots of the expected — jam sessions and singalongs — along with several "we didn't see that coming" surprises like a Go-Go dance lesson.
The free festivities kick off at 7 p.m. and run through 11 p.m. at the school, 4545 N. Lincoln Ave. No experience or talent required.
Among the highlights:
• Voice of the People Jam, 7-8:30 p.m. Bring an instrument, your voice or just clap your hands (preferably rhythmically) through this musical tour of protest and solidarity tunes.
• Swing your partner round and round at the Barn Dance, 7:30-9:30 p.m., with music provided by the Fiddle Club Orchestra.
• Go-Go dance lesson, 8:45 p.m. Groovy attire optional.
• Tom Petty Ensemble, 10 p.m.
