RAVENSWOOD — Koval Distillery has joined the relief effort to aid Puerto Rico in the wake of devastating destruction caused by Hurricane Maria.

Koval will donate all ticket sales from the week's distillery tours to employee Katie Adams' GoFundMe, which she and her fiance Sebastian Gonzalez set up to help family and friends on the island.

"Our relatives have dwindling supplies and damaged homes, yet can't pay for necessities or repairs because they can't work without repaired workspaces and electricity," Adams posted to GoFundMe.

The couple, who got engaged in January, already donated their wedding fund to purchase supplies and have raised an additional $6,600 toward their $10,000 goal.

They're buying batteries, flashlights, diapers, mosquito repellent, canned goods and other essentials, and are working with logistics experts to ship the items directly to individuals.

"Word on the island regarding our efforts has gotten out, and even more requests are flooding in," Adams posted in an update.

Tours of the distillery, at 5121 N. Ravenswood Ave., cost $10, with a capacity of 25 attendees. Koval will donate all ticket sales for tours scheduled for Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday — nine tours total. Adams, the distillery's outreach coordinator, will lead some of the tours on Saturday and all of Sunday's.
