LOGAN SQUARE — Jam restaurant officially is leaving its Logan Boulevard location of five years.

As a result of a rent dispute, the breakfast favorite is leaving its current home at 3057 W. Logan Blvd. to move to the former Yusho spot at 2852 N. Kedzie Ave., according to owner Anthony Fiore.

The last day of service on Logan Boulevard is set for Oct. 21. Crews already are at work remodeling the new location, set to open in early November, Fiore said.

"Obviously it would've been nice to stay where we were at, but our landlord is unreasonable, so we found a bigger space in an area with better street traffic, and we're going to be paying less in rent," Fiore said.

Fiore is referring to his landlord, Jerry Suqi, who is also a former Jam partner. Fiore alleged Suqi was trying to charge him significantly more for rent, as was first reported by DNAinfo in August. Fiore said he was paying a little more than $30 per square foot and Suqi wanted to charge him $55 per square foot under a new lease.

In August, Fiore said there was "bad blood" between him and Suqi, but declined to go into specifics. Suqi didn't respond to a request for comment.

Not much will be different at the new location, which was most recently occupied by innovative Japanese restaurant Yusho. The former Yusho spot is about 500 feet bigger than the Logan Boulevard location, but the menu, the staff and the vibes will all be the same, according to Fiore.

The only major difference is the new location doesn't have an outdoor dining area. But Fiore said he's planning to remodel the back dining area — outfitted with "great skylights" — so it feels like an atrium.

Jam has been serving contemporary American lunch and breakfast, including neighborhood-famous Fresh toast, on Logan Bouelvard for five years.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Logan Square's bar and restaurant corridor, Jam has seen great success over the last half-decade. From 2013 to 2017, chef Jeff Mauro and the rest of the team earned five consecutive Michelin Bib Gourmand awards. Foodies and locals alike have dubbed it one of the neighborhood's best brunch spots.

Fiore said he's looking forward to putting the past behind him.

"It should be a pretty good business move for us, and we're getting out of a bad situation," Fiore said.
