IRVING PARK — Ravinia Brewing is taking another step toward becoming a full-fledged member of Chicago's craft beer scene with its upcoming launch of distribution in the city.

An event to celebrate the milestone is set for 6 p.m. Friday at Fountainhead, 1970 W. Montrose Ave.

The bar will have Ravinia's Grunsfeld Lager, Flight of the Rooster Saison and Steep Ravine India Pale Ale on draft throughout the evening.

In May, Ravinia announced plans to take over the former home of Finch Kitchen/Breakroom Brewery at 2925 W. Montrose Ave.

Ravinia is developing a pair of breweries in tandem: A Highland Park brewhouse will serve as Ravinia's "innovation laboratory" while the Montrose location will include a brewpub and cannery, according to owner Kris Walker.

The restaurant side of the brewpub has taken a backseat to beer production, with no firm date in place for an opening, according to sources at Ravinia.
