WOODLAWN — Artists painting a mural under the 64th Street Metra viaduct are looking volunteers who want to help paint Saturday.

The mural project needs people who can come out and grab a paint brush from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to help paint the south wall of the viaduct at 6400 S. Dorchester Ave.

Rahmaan “Statik” Barnes, who also helped paint the mural on the Marquette Drive viaduct and the Prince mural in Avalon Park, has been coordinating the painting of the mural of images of local heroes like pilot Bessie Coleman and artists Margaret Burroughs and Calvin Jones.

People are encouraged to bring clothes they don’t mind getting paint on.
