COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A man on parole for burglary has been charged with burglarizing the same West Town apartment building three times over the last several months.
Albert Hudson, 54, was arrested about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 3300 block of West Chicago Avenue, according to Officer Michael Carroll, a Chicago Police spokesman.
Hudson was "identified through surveillance," Carroll said, noting that Near West District tactical officers made the arrest.
Hudson is accused of entering a garage in the 1600 block of West Grand Avenue around 3:10 a.m. on Aug. 27 and stealing a Gary Fisher bicycle.
On July 6, prosecutors said, Hudson took a package containing a resident's Crate and Barrel folding chairs from the same building.
And about 10:20 p.m. Sep. 11, Hudson returned to the building to take another package — this time from a third victim, according to police.
Hudson, of the 5600 block of South Shields Avenue, is charged with felony residential burglary and misdemeanor theft. Cook County Judge John Fitzgerald Lyke, Jr., on Thursday denied Hudson bail.
According to court records, Hudson is currently on parole for a 2014 burglary conviction in which he was sentenced to six years in prison. He was released in February of this year.
Prior felony convictions include: possession of burglary tools (2011, one-year sentence); retail theft (2008, two-year sentence); possession of a stolen motor vehicle (eight-year sentence in 2004, six-year sentence in 1994, three-year sentence in 1991); burglary (1991, three-year sentence); possession of a controlled substance (three-year sentence in 1999, one-year sentence in 1990, probation in 1989); and violation of bail bond (364-day sentence in 1999).
Misdemeanor convictions include retail theft (2008) and possession of burglary tools (2013).
A man matching Hudson's description was captured on surveillance camera in Bucktown's Clocktower Lofts, 2300 W. Wabansia Ave. last weekend stealing two packages. Police could not confirm whether Hudson was linked to those crimes.
