ROSCOE VILLAGE — Whitney Young's decision to pull the plug on its football season has left its opponents scrambling to fill the holes in their schedules.
Lane Tech is in a particular bind: The school's Oct. 6 contest against the Dolphins' squad wasn't going to be just any old game — it's the Indians' homecoming game.
At a meeting of Lane's Local School Council, Principal Brian Tennison said the school hoped to find a replacement, according to a report in the student newspaper The Warrior.
Even if the game has to be canceled, other homecoming activities, including a rally and dance, will go on as planned, Tennison told the LSC.
Tennison and Lane Tech Athletic Director Nick LoGalbo did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Whitney Young has designated a soccer match as its homecoming game.
