GRAND BOULEVARD — The Wentworth Police District now has more officers,  3rd Ward Ald. Pat Dowell said.

In a letter to constituents, Dowell said that the district that covers Bronzeville, Kenwood and Hyde Park was assigned five more officers in mid-September.

All of the officers are probationary officers, she said.

Other districts that were assigned more officers include the Central District, with three new officers; the Ogden District, with 10 new officers; and the Calumet District, with five new officers.

In April, the city's inspector general released a report detailing, for the first time, the breakdown of officers by district.

At the time, the Wentworth District was listed as having 323 officers.
