HYDE PARK — The Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago is celebrating its fifth anniversary Oct. 7 with 12 hours of free events.
Starting at 11:30 a.m. the center, 915 E. 60th St., will dive into just about every art form to celebrate its five years on campus.
There will be new photo and art exhibits, including Edouard Brooks’ virtual reality work “Graphics Powder.”
At least six separate dance companies are scheduled to perform, as well as music by Funkadesi and Hypnotic Brazz Ensemble, poetry readings and a parade.
Dirty Red Brass Band and Avery Young will also perform during a free barbecue.
There will be free workshops for people who want to learn woodworking, circus performing or animation using Lego bricks.
There are several events that do require paid tickets, among them a chance to make custom headphones for a silent dance party with DJ Mastermix.
A full schedule is available on the event website.
