DOUGLAS — A 27-year-old woman was shot by an ex-boyfriend in Douglas on Saturday, police said.

The woman was walking in a parking lot in the 2900 block of South Dearborn Street at 9:25 a.m. when the 27-year-old ex-boyfrind walked up to her and tried to talk to her.

When the woman refused to talk, the man took out a gun and fired shots, police said.

The woman was hit in her right shoulder and left hip and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was not available but she was listed as "stable," police said.

The man ran away but was caught by officers responding to the shooting, police said. He was in custody.

The woman and man had previously been romantically involved, a police source said.
