By Kelly Bauer | September 10, 2017 10:10am | Updated on September 11, 2017 8:27am

CHICAGO — Police shot and killed a man who they say used a car to seriously injure an officer early Sunday in Belmont Cragin.

At 12:50 a.m., officers saw a person driving "erratically" and stopped him in the 2100 block of North Laramie Avenue, police said. Officers got out of their car to investigate, and police said the driver used his car to pin one of the officers.

An officer shot the man, killing him, police said. The man was identified as Juan Flores, 19, of the same block where he was shot, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Flores was pronounced dead at 1:11 a.m. and an autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

An officer was hospitalized in serious condition, police said.

The shooting is being investigated by the Independent Police Review Authority, and the officers involved have been placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days.
