UPTOWN — Andy Kalish is putting the finishing touches on his block of Wilson Avenue.

The co-owner of Kal'ish and Longacre has temporarily closed the pizza place as workers put the finishing touches on a spot specializing in breakfast and to-go items at the former home of Baker and Nosh, 1303 W. Wilson Ave.

"While we are closed we will be doing the heavy work to convert the old Baker & Nosh (We miss them too) space into a Longacre breakfast/morning to go spot," reads a sign posted on Longacre.

While the sign says Longacre, 1309 W. Wilson Ave., will be closed until Tuesday, the voicemail for the restaurant said the restaurant will reopen Sept. 14.

When it reopens, the menu will include new items such as salads and house-made soups. It will also have new hours and be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., the sign said.

Longacre, which serves Detroit-style and Roman-style pizzas, opened with a condensed schedule in June.

Longacre is the second from the husband-and-wife duo of Kalish and Gina Marino-Kalish on Wilson Avenue. They also own short-order vegan spot Kal'ish next door.

While construction continues, Kalish encouraged customers to try new items on the Kal'ish menu.

The burgers & fries, chilled gazpacho and new homemade ice cream have been hitting many a spot this summer, the sign reads.
