'House Hunters' For Bucktown Couple: Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Ukie Village

CHICAGO — A Bucktown couple are on the lookout for a new home in a recently aired episode of the popular HGTV series "House Hunters," with condos in Lincoln Park, Lakeview and Ukrainian Village among the choices.

"Drake and Jillian," a married couple, had a budget of $500,000 to $600,000 for a condo with two or three bedrooms and a garage for their two cars and a scooter.

He's an engineer; she's a seventh-grade teacher. He's after vintage; she prefers contemporary. Their real estate broker is David Vargas of @properties.

In Lincoln Park, they look at a 3 bedroom, 2½-bathroom condo that had been totally rehabbed and was priced at $559,000. It has three decks, but Jillian opines she's "not sure about a view of the alley, though."

In Lakeview, they visit a warehouse converted into a loft. It has three bedrooms with 2½ baths priced at $499,900. He thinks it's energy inefficient.

Lastly, they look at a new construction condo in Ukrainian Village. With two bedrooms and two baths, the asking price is $520,000. Drake is disappointed somewhat by the neighborhood: "They kind of took away the the character by tearing down the the old buildings," he said.
