COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — An Englewood man has been charged with gunning down 16-year-old Kejuan Thomas on a crowded basketball court earlier this month.

Tororicious Berry, 25, was denied bail Friday on charges he walked up to Kejuan in the 9700 block of South Yates Avenue about 4:30 p.m. Aug. 16 and shot the teen once in his head at close range.

After Kejuan fell to the ground dead, prosecutors said, Berry stood over the boy's body and fired multiple additional rounds — shooting Kejuan in his head, neck, shoulder and hand.

Prosecutors did not provide a motive for the attack.

Kejuan had been playing basketball at Bradley Park with other minors — some of them as young as 10 — when Berry approached in a black hoodie and began shooting, Assistant State's Attorney Jamie Santini said during a bond hearing Friday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2650 S. California Ave.

Kejuan, of the 6400 block of South King Drive, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Multiple witnesses identified Berry as the shooter. According to Santini, Berry is a member of the Gangster Disciple street gang.
