CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was gunned down in South Deering on Wednesday, police said.
At 4:34 p.m., the boy was playing basketball in the 9700 block of South Yates Avenue when a car with two people inside pulled up, police said. One person got out of the car and fired shots.
The boy was hit in his head and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The boy was identified as Kejuan Thomas, of the 6400 block of South King Drive, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Thomas was pronounced dead at 4:46 p.m. and an autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
The attacker drove away, police said, and no one was in custody.
