LOGAN SQUARE — Logan Square's Colectivo Coffee outpost will have a huge Milwaukee Avenue-facing outdoor patio with fire pits, according to renderings provided by the company.

The Milwaukee-based coffee shop is opening on the ground floor of the MiCa Towers at 2261 N. Milwaukee Ave. on Dec. 1.

It will be the second Colectivo Coffee outpost in Chicago. The first, on Clark Street in Lincoln Park, opened in May. The Lincoln Park location also has a huge patio.

Founded in 1993, Colectivo Coffee prides itself on its partnerships with local growers and roasting batches by hand. The cafe, originally called Alterra Coffee, operates more than a dozen locations across Milwaukee and Madison, Wis.

Through the years, Colectivo also has developed its own Troubador Bakery brand. In Lincoln Park, all the coffee and baked goods are shipped in daily from the Milwaukee area. An array of sandwiches and Colectivo Keg Co. house beer also are on the menu.

The Logan Square outpost will serve the same food and drinks, according to a Colectivo spokeswoman.
