LINCOLN PARK — The citywide wave of catalytic converter thefts has moved into Lincoln Park and the RANCH Triangle, according to a police alert passed along Thursday by Ald. Michele Smith (43rd).

Smith distributed an email to constituents Thursday including a Near North Police District community alert on a string of converter thefts this month. According to police, they took place:

• Overnight Aug. 7-8 on the 2100 block of North Fremont Street.

• The same night on the 1800 block of North Bissell Street.

• Overnight Aug. 18-19 on the 2100 block of North Lakewood Avenue.

• The morning of Aug. 19 on the 2200 block of Lakewood.

Police had no information on the suspects, but advised residents to keep car doors locked and windows up, and to keep valuables in cars in the trunk or otherwise out of sight. Victims should not touch anything before calling 911, and should also call to report any suspicious activity, especially with a description of a car of license number.

Smith additionally suggested that residents attend a local community policing meeting.
